Terminator DH | Mountain Biking Redding California
Mountain biking in Redding CA is, to say the least, AWESOME!!! The area has a variety of trails for every level of rider you are. You can easily plan a day ride or rides right from downtown Redding California. If you are not familiar with the area and you have a smartphone, download the app “Trailforks”. That will get you where you want to go. Better yet, leave a comment below and I’ll show you around. Let’s make a video out of it.
So, I went on a ride the other day. That would be like my 4th or 5th ride since my crash. I have been borrowing my boys Chameleon 2015 but it’s a large and I normally ride a medium. There are differences in climbing and descending, for sure. But I am thankful to be able to ride a little.
Drove out to Swasey Rec Area and started from the yellow gate at the Enticer trail (black) and headed towards Wintu trail up. Not consistently mountain biking takes a toll on you so I was sucking wind up the Wintu switchbacks but I made it. I have ridden a mountain bike long enough to know what pace to keep. Plus, I stop a few times to do some video of course.
Wintu trail (green) it’s not too difficult. Singletrack mostly, a little chunky some of the time and it’s not a long ride. To finish off Wintu, be sure to enter the Enticer trail(black). That will be the 1st TH you come to. But if you want to continue the steady climb up, you will continue up the trail that turns into Meiner’s loop (blue). Meiner’s loop will be the next fork.
That is why I love mountain biking so much, it’s an adventure and an exploration every time. Takes me back to when I was a kid and all I had was a bike, I explored every day.
Stay RIGHT all the way up. The trail will turn into the Escalator (green) which will end at a picnic bench where you can have lunch, rest. At this point, you have some options to choose from. Do you want a long ride or a short ride? That will be your dilemma. Here you have 5 trails, Mule Mountain aka Terminator (black), Mule Ridge (blue), Mule Mountain Pass trail(blue), Mule Mountain Loop (green) and the Escalator you just went up. Also, there is a bunch of trails that I haven’t even mentioned and I look forward to riding them again to capture the video.
The Escalator (green) is named perfectly, it takes you up to the other trails. I don’t go down because you can go fast and that can be dangerous for you or others on the trail. Always want to practice trail safety.
On this particular day, I desired the Terminator (black). Singletrack and chunky so be on your toes. Check out the video below of me rippen down the Terminator.
This post is NOT done, my plan is to video the other trail options here and embed each video so stay tuned for more videos from MTB Crank Addict aka Crazy Chris.
I hope you enjoyed the video, if you did, give it a thumbs up, share it with your friends who love mountain biking at Swasey Recreation Area in Redding California.
